Last Saturday, Trail to Recovery made its presence known at the Virginia Off-Road Spring Trailfestin Jamaica Virginia. We gathered with around 300 people, amidst trucks and outdoor enthusiasts.

Our aim was simple: to introduce ourselves, shake hands, and engage in meaningful conversations. Something happened during our time there that truly encapsulates our mission.

A young man approached my booth with a young woman and quite a curious and adorable German Shepard. We discussed Trail to Recovery, our purpose, and our future direction. They spent some time with us, left to to do a trail ride and then returned to the booth.

During our conversation, he took out his phone and called his dad.

A Marine veteran. Retired from law enforcement. A lifetime dedicated to serving others.

Soon, I was speaking with this gentleman, sharing the vision of Trail to Recovery.

The next morning, an email awaited me.

He wanted to join us; not to volunteer or lead, but to enjoy the outdoors, clear his mind, and connect with those who understand.

This is precisely why we started this.

We didn’t leave Trailfest with a flood of signups or a financial windfall. We had genuine conversations, distributed cards, and established authentic connections.

One of those connections reached out the very next morning. This is how it begins.

We’re doing it again.

Join us at Coffee n Trucks at See-Mor Customs on April 11th. No sales pitch. No pressure. Just amazing people and great conversation.

If you’re a veteran active duty or first responder seeking something genuine—come find us.

Reconnect. Reset. Recover.

Trail to Recovery is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in Virginia.trailtorecovery.org
