BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Evan Davis
Board President
Evan Davis is a United States Marine Corps combat veteran who served for 12 years. After leaving the service, he found that time outdoors, starting with daily walks with his dog Ollie and eventually longer camping trips, made a meaningful difference in his mental health and overall resilience. That personal experience led Evan to Trail to Recovery, where he now serves as Program Director and President of the Board. He is committed to expanding the program's reach and ensuring veterans, active duty service members, and first responders have access to structured outdoor experiences that support their wellbeing. Evan lives in Virginia with his wife Teresa and their daughter, who has already developed a love for the outdoors of her own.
Justin Gentile
Vice President
Justin retired from the Air Force after spending 22 years as an operational intelligence analyst. He has been off-roading for about 25 years. Justin has recently moved to Virginia from Colorado, where he spent 5 years guiding groups into the most rugged and tallest mountains in that state. He currently owns a Bronco.
Jason Lowe
Treasurer
Jason lives in Appomattox, Virginia and connected with T2R through a friendship between his wife and Evan's. Getting to know Evan and seeing his passion for the outdoors and supporting veterans sparked something in him. Most of his family has served, and while Jason doesn't have a military background himself, he's seen firsthand what time outdoors and genuine companionship can do for a person. Those things have been a lifeline for him, and still are. Jason's background spans Engineering and Project Management. Outside of work, you'll find him in the garden, working on outdoor projects, or spending time with his wife.
James Farley
Secretary
James Farley is a U.S. Navy veteran and Secretary of the Board for Trail to Recovery. He brings a background in military service, expedition travel, and outdoor leadership, using the outdoors as a platform to build connection, resilience, and peer support. He is focused on safe, responsible trail leadership, including risk management, communications, and recovery fundamentals. At Trail to Recovery, he helps shape programs that deliver consistent, well-executed outdoor experiences for veterans and first responders. James lives in northern Virginia and spends much of his time across Virginia, West Virginia, and North Carolina, creating opportunities for others to disconnect from daily pressures and reconnect through shared experience.
Melinda Larson
Director At Large
Melinda Larson is a Navy veteran with a love for all things Jeep. Originally from Pennsylvania, her time in the service brought her to Hampton Roads, where she now lives with her two teenage kids and her four bully pups. She’s someone who naturally builds community wherever she goes, and for her, the trails became more than just a hobby. They became a place to reset, connect, and just breathe for a minute. Whether it’s a quiet ride or a full group run, she values the kind of environment where people can show up as they are and feel like they belong. Through Trail to Recovery, Melinda is focused on helping create more of those moments for others, especially veterans, active duty service members, and first responders. She believes there’s something powerful about getting people outside, off the grid, and surrounded by others who understand, even without having to say much.
